Neurofeedback has been used in the therapeutic community since the middle of the twentieth century. Originally developed using electroencephalography (EEG) to control certain parts of the brain, EEG neurofeedback pulsed energy through electrodes while a client focused on a specific image or task.

In 2012, however, Barry Bruder created a new device for neurofeedback, which involved a lower, more generalized dose of energy to enhance muscle relaxation and re-education. Since then, the company IASIS has developed Bruder’s noninvasive, FDA-registered Microcurrent Neurofeedback system and certified clinicians across the globe in MCN.

IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback has been proven an effective treatment tool for a wide range of mental health issues and is safe for anyone of any age to use. In addition to common mental health symptoms like depression, anxiety, and PTSD, MCN has yielded positive results for clients struggling with other physical, cognitive, and neurological disorders. Memory challenges, insomnia, migraines, Lyme disease, and epilepsy are just some examples of challenges that have been treated using Microcurrent Neurofeedback.

In fact, some studies estimate that close to 90 percent of MCN recipients report positive results. And whereas traditional neurofeedback often requires at least six months of treatment, the average client using IASIS Micro Current Neurofeedback is likely to reach “enduring sustainability” after 10 to 20 sessions (one to three months).[1]

HOW MCN DIFFERS FROM NEUROFEEDBACK

Unlike traditional neurofeedback, which can take many sessions to see changes, microcurrent neurofeedback can show results much faster. Here are some key differences:

  • Speed: Microcurrent neurofeedback often requires fewer sessions.

  • Method: It uses ultra-low power signals instead of just monitoring brain activity.

Effectiveness: Many people notice improvements right away.

WHY I CHOSE MCN AS A THERAPIST OF 20 YEARS

When I first learned about MCN, I had some reservations regarding the passive nature of using electrodes and energy pulse and how enduringly effective it could be. Nevertheless, I chose to enroll in an IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback training to gain firsthand experience. My perspective shifted as I became increasingly more impressed with MCN’s effectiveness, especially after hearing positive feedback from clinicians who had been treated by MCN and/or who were on the same journey of incorporating the tool into their own wellness practices. After my training was complete I was able to witness first hand the positive results both personally and within the individuals in my personal circle leaving me further convinced of it’s potential to be a valuable tool in the journey to well being.

Traditional talk therapy remains an important and essential choice for individuals seeking to address their mental health challenges, I’m thrilled to present MCN as a distinct service within my therapy practice. This modality provides valuable support to a wide range of clients, potentially reducing the length of therapy sessions.  Microcurrent Neurofeedback has the potential to produce a more resilient mental state and improved stress management.

As a highly effective means for harmonizing mind and body, encouraging a sense of calm, and reducing overall stress, this can benefit anyone of any age—from one to one hundred. By tapping into the brain’s ability to change itself, MCN allows clients to meaningfully return from a fight-or-flight trauma response and toward the path of healing.
